Next Wednesday is Halloween and the library will be open for business as well as open for trick or treaters! Drop by on your route for a treat, a quick game (toss the ring on the spider) and a little prize!

Coming Saturday, November 3rd is International Games Day! The American Library Association promotes this event every year to showcase the fact that libraries are not just book-lending services anymore. Like many small-town libraries, we are multi-dimensional, offering books, digital media (movies, music & books on CD), magazines, computer usage and programming for the patrons.

International Games Day will be small-scale this year, as it’s our first year of this event. We received a free copy of the boardgame Labyrinth from the manufacturer, Ravensburg, as a sponsor of the event. Labyrinth is a quick to learn and a fast game for ages 7-77 and 2-4 players.

If we can get at least 2 players at a time, we’d like to have a mini-tournament in Labyrinth. If you’d be interested in playing a game, we’ll start them at the top of every hour that day, 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 noon and 1 p.m. The winners will be invited to a playoff round the following Saturday, November 10th.

Also that day, we’ll have checkers, scrabble and Rummicube going for anybody who wants to play and an ABC match game for preschoolers through age 5.

Plan to join us for a fun day of games and refreshments! Please email the library to sign up if you’d like to be in the Labyrinth tournament specifically, and what hour you’d plan to come by. Bring by your own game if you’d like, we hope to be packed with patrons ready for some fun before the snow flies!

Hope to see you soon at the library!
