I’m Baaack, Thanks & New Movies

thank you butterfly

To start with, I want to give a huge THANK YOU to Lynne David & Laura Naas for their excellent pinch-hitting the past two weeks while I ran between De Soto & Superior to take care of my daughter and new grandson!

It was very nice to know that I could take off and leave the library in such capable hands and I really do appreciate their help!!

And, that leads to the fact that I am back in residence here at DPL.  And since JUNE is now breathing (with sweaty breath, I might add) down our necks, I am happy to announce that the library now has central air conditioning! Yay!  Come in & relax in cool comfort & read a book or magazine, browse the internet or just sit & zen out!

Additionally, the Summer Reading Program is starting soon…I have a LOT to accomplish to get the ball rolling on that and I am STILL LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS!  We need volunteers (high school or older) willing to read a book to the 2-8 year old set and help them with a weekly craft or simple science demonstration. All materials provided and you can even “practice” in advance at home with the book & demo.   Need at least 6 weeks still covered!

Or, if you’re really brave, you could try wrangling the 3-6th graders for a week or more. Their weekly get-together is less structured; they are going to do some experiments, play games & share info about the books they’re reading. But they do need supervision, of course!

If you’re interested in helping any WEDNESDAY between 1-3 p.m. this summer, please let me know!

NEW MOVIES for this week:

  • City of God (based on a True Story)
  • The Shawshank Redemption (Tim Robbins & Morgan Freeman)
  • Old Dogs (John Travolta & Robin Williams….one of the most hysterical scenes I’ve seen in recent years is in this movie!)
  • Wyatt Earp (Kevin Costner & Dennis Quaid)
  • The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (Judi Dench & Maggie Smith)
  • Contagion (Matt Damon & Laurence Fishburne)

Hope to See you Soon at the Library!
