Fall Lineup of Programs at DPL!

storytimeStorytime is Back on Tuesday mornings! Starting September 9th, we’ll be having Preschool (and homeschooled) Story, Craft & snack!  No registration required, just come when you’re able.  All kids & caregivers invited!! Please let the library know in advance if your kids have special dietary needs, so we can plan snack accordingly.

movienite

Every other Thursday (starting September 18th) is Middle School / High School / Young Adult Movie Night. 7:30 at the Library.  Popcorn & water provided, wrapped/boxed candy and soda can be carried in.  Please NO pizza/chips/other foods!!  Participants can be dropped off for this program. End times will vary depending on movie shown. If participants cannot behave appropriately, they will be required to have a parent in attendance with them in the future.

FAMILY MOVIES will also be back. The LAST Saturday of each month (Sept-May) we’ll have a family-friendly movie and popcorn at 2 p.m. here at the library!!!

knittingWork With Your Hands WEDNESDAYS!  New this fall, we’re encouraging all those who knit, crochet, tat, embroider, cross stitch, or do other hand-crafts (plastic canvas, embroidery, hand quilting, etc.) to gather on Wednesday evenings and spend a few hours on your projects!  From 6-8, we’ll have hot tea and cocoa (and maybe even some refreshments now & again?) and work on projects, share techniques and perhaps even teach each other a thing or two!

zentangle

Also, no exact date yet, but soon we’ll be hosting a Saturday class in ZENTANGLE! A fun and simple way to relax while doodling a beautiful piece of artwork. Local artist and teacher Meg Buchner will be sharing with us the basic forms used in Zentangle and some new books on the subject are on the way!  Basic supplies will be provided for this class.  Stay tuned for more details and a date!!

book_club_logo1

We’d like to start a Book Club, but much as I’d like to add one more program, I just don’t have the time to organize and lead a book club. HOWEVER, I’d love to have a local patron choose a monthly (or bi-monthly) book and lead a discussion on it! I can take care of getting multiple copies of a book borrowed from other libraries and distributing them to the book club members. Would YOU be willing to choose the books and lead a lively, fair and honest discussion? IF SO, please let me know!!

labyrinth

Our 3rd Annual Labyrinth Tournament will take place on Saturday, November 15th in conjunction with International Games Day!  Join us for a variety of board and card games and learn to play this simple, but challenging, game for ages 5-100!  Refreshments too!

Of course, there are dozens of more great ideas I have for programs at the library, but time, space and additional help aren’t always in abundance here.  However, if you’ve got a great idea for a program we could host and you’d be willing to help plan, please let us know!

Hope to see you Soon at the Library!
