Busy in August

Just a quick update today!

First, check out the following pages that have new items listed on them: Non-Fiction, DVD, and Young Teen.

Second, just a reminder that this Wednesday the 15th is the final day of our Dream Big: Read summer program!  We’ll be at the De Soto High School gymnasium for presentations of the mobile planetarium by Paul Kinzer.  He will be doing sessions at 1:00 and 2:30.  Inbetween the sessions, participants will be able to pick out their end-of-summer prize for reading!  We’ll also have snack and crafts.

Please remember to bring your passport/reading log so we can get a final tally of your points. Also, older kids working on Time Machines, please bring them along with your ‘Owners manual’ so we can choose the best machines. Top Time Machine wins a telescope!  Lots of other prizes too!

Lastly, on August 14th & 15th, we’ll have a table set up at the De Soto High School for the registration sessions for Prairieview and DMS/DHS students.  We encourage all area families to have a library card.  If you’ve never actually received a Winding Rivers system card (with a barcode starting in ‘2’) now is the time to upgrade; we’ll have cards on hand and can get you a new card on the spot!

For patrons who already have a WRLS card, please bring it in next time so we can take down your barcode number for our records as well.  And if you have a grey card with a barcode starting in “A” or no barcode at all, come on in & trade up! As part of our efforts to streamline processes here and use electronic check outs, we’ll need to have everybody receive a new card. You won’t have to bring it with you every time, but just have a card assigned to you with the new barcode system.

It’s been great to have a break in the weather finally!  We hope to see you soon at the library!
